We are Indiana Partners for Christian Unity and Mission (IPCUM), the successor

organization to the Indiana Council of Churches.

We confess that we are created by God to be one in Christ, that we are

redeemed by the death and resurrection of Christ, and that we are sustained

by the power of the Holy Spirit as we continue our journey together. Affirming

our oneness in Christ, we join with one another as people of God in the

State of Indiana to minister together in expressing God’s love and care for

the world.

Formed in 1996, the partners of IPCUM strive to learn from one another about the

richness God offers through different Christian faith expressions, while serving the

whole people of God through cooperative prayer, worship, word and action.

We are churches and ecumenical agencies in Indiana working together for healing

in a fragmented world.

To keep up to date about our activities and other events around the state, check

back frequently to this web site. We welcome your participation at IPCUM

conferences and gatherings, as well as your financial and prayer support.  Thank you.

                THE VISION AND MISSION OF IPCUM

                                        2008-2010

“We will gather around the table to explore diversities, to recognize God’s given gifts,

and to celebrate our commonality.”

                                        Our Mission and Goals

Recognizing that we live in the midst of faithful, yet fractured communities, IPCUM will strive to:

   1.  Focus its ministry on addressing issues that keep communions, communities and churches in a

        state of fracture.

   2.  Provide opportunity for open dialog about substantive issues of diversity focusing on issues

        and concerns related to both practice and theology of the church.

   3.  Provide opportunity for faithful people of all ages to come together in study and in service.

   4.  Strengthen the relationships among the Church Communions who serve in the state of

         Indiana.

   5.  Identify areas of mission that may be uniquely enhanced by the presence of IPCUM.

   6.  Explore the place of Inter-Faith dialog as part of the mission of IPCUM.

   7.  Provide opportunity to review the covenant with our partners.

Our Purpose

    We gather as Jesus gathered the disciples to:

        1.  WELCOME all who seek the unity that is ours in

            Christ but is not yet fully realized;

        2. DISCOVER in similarity and diversity the many

            gifts which have been given by the Holy Spirit;

        3. CREATE structures which encourage the sharing

            of these gifts for the common good;

        4. SERVE the whole people of God through cooperative

            prayer, worship, word and action;

        5. CHALLENGE one another “so that the world may believe;”

        6. LEARN from one another about the richness God has

            offered through our different expressions of Christian faith; and

        7. WORK for justice in God’s world.
